Effective December 1, 2015, CMS has released new, detailed denial codes. The 80 detailed codes are for both home health and hospice providers. The list has been published on most MACs websites.
For billers who know their way around the FISS DDE system, you may also view the codes. To see all of the denial codes, access the ‘Inquiry Menu’ and then select option 17, ‘Reason Codes’. When you are using FISS DDE, you may also get detailed denial code explanations by pressing ‘F1’ in any claim page.
