Massachusetts Home Health Agencies: A Very Important MassHealth Update for 2022!

MassHealth has shared a critical update for home health agencies about regulatory changes which will become effective January 1, 2022. These are presented in detail in the PDF linked below. These changes are both clinical and financial. All relevant staff members of your agency should register for one of the webinars linked below.

One item that merits special attention is the requirement regarding Fiscal Soundness. Fiscal Soundness uses a formula to determine how much cash or access to cash (line of credit, outside available funding) is available to meet the needs of the agency to make payroll.

These changes could have a significant impact on how your agency operates. If you need help navigating these changes, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss the new rules and what we can do to help.

Here is the full text of the update from MassHealth LTSS Provider Support:

Effective January 1, 2022, MassHealth will be amending the Home Health Agency (HHA) regulations 130
CMR 403.000 and 130 CMR 403.000 governs the delivery of intermittent home health services (skilled nursing visits, medication administration, therapies, and home health aide).  Please note, effective January 1, 2022, rules and regulations for CSN services will be established under 130 CMR 438.000.  MassHealth will be hosting a separate training for 130 CMR 438.000.

To ensure your organization understands the changes to the HHA program regulation, MassHealth is conducting training for HHA providers providing intermittent home health services. All HHA providers are highly encouraged to attend the training and review the proposed regulations in advanced of the training. Click here to view the regulations.
