Home Health Fraud Watch

AA Advanced Care, Miami, FL: Owner, Felix Gonzalez pleaded guilty to $32 million in Medicare fraud.  The agency fraudulently billed Medicare for services that were not medically necessary or in some cases, not provided at all between 2006 and 2009.

Former Mayor of Stillwater, MN:  Ken Harycki, CPA has been charged with fraud and participating in a scheme that involved shell companies, fraudulent tax returns and defrauding Medicare.  This investigation is part of a larger investigation revolving around several agencies including those that provided Medicaid Waiver based services.

New Orleans, LA: Owner Mark Morad of Interlink Health Care Services, Memorial Home Health, Lakeland Health Care Services, Lexmark Health Care, and Medrite Pharmacy, along with Dr. Divini Luccioni is charged with defrauding Medicare $56 million.  The fraud allegedly started in 2007 up until formal charges were filed in 2014.  The owner provided kickbacks to Medicare beneficiaries to use their Medicare number to bill for services. Dr. Luccioni allegedly signed orders for non-medically necessary home health services and attested that patients were homebound when they were not.

Arlington, TX: Dallas area physician Joseph Megiva was charged with $100 million in Medicare fraud by signing documentation that was incorrect and for services for patients not medically necessary.  The physician collaborated with 230 Dallas area agencies.  The largest agency owner, convicted of fraud, Ferguson Ikhile testified against Dr. Megiva.
