Per CR 10983 – the Common Working File will require verification of the National Provider Identifier and Submitter Identification. This is similar to the HIPAA Eligibility Transaction System (HETS) – when providers request beneficiary eligibility and entitlement data via the CWF provider inquiry screens. Providers that do not have HETS Submitter IDs will continue to access MACs portals without any change, or can establish a submitter ID. Ensure that your billing staff are aware of this change!
